We are all in on business tours! Today, we visited Wiemelt Plumbing and Excavating to hear Greg and Carol’s story, a journey in both life and business.

Greg shared how he bought his first backhoe shortly after high school and started out doing nearly all the work himself. Today, that determination has evolved into a diverse business that manages multiple subcontractors and projects, ranging from fiber optics to farming. Along the way, he emphasized the importance of doing things right and protecting your reputation, non-negotiables for any entrepreneur.

Both Greg and Carol also spoke about the sacrifice it takes to start something incredible, the long hours, the risks of working underground in directional drilling, and the relentless commitment required to build from the ground up, and above all, the ability to figure it out as you go. The class also had the chance to see some of the incredible equipment that powers the business.

The Wiemelt story shows the power of combining the trades with entrepreneurship, proof that grit, sacrifice, and vision can create something extraordinary.
