(2/9/26) Guest Speaker: Robin Harper Whitehead
Today, our Johnson County CEO class had the pleasure of hearing from Robin Harper Whitehead. If you know Robin, you know she is a wealth of knowledge and truly wears many hats.
Robin shared her entrepreneurial roots, growing up with parents who owned their own businesses—her mother as a florist and her father as an auctioneer. From a young age, she was involved in both businesses, gaining hands-on experience that shaped her work ethic. At just 18 years old, Robin became an auctioneer herself, learning the craft from her father as they practiced together each morning at the breakfast table.
In 1994, with encouragement from her family, Robin ran for Johnson County Clerk. She won the election and has proudly served in that role ever since. During her visit, she explained the many responsibilities of the County Clerk’s office and walked students through the assumed name registration process and how to officially register a business with the county.
We wrapped up class with a timely discussion on the upcoming election, and students were given the opportunity to register to vote—an impactful and meaningful way to connect civic responsibility with entrepreneurship.
Thank you, Robin, for sharing your story, experience, and wisdom with our students!
